About Us

Our goal is to provide objective, real data about the devices that you use every single day. We don’t accept any payment for results. Our tests are objective — changing the results amounts to lying, and presenting false data knowingly isn’t just immoral, it’s illegal.

Where some other databases blur the line is in accepting payment to not report results. We won’t do this. Our goal is to be comprehensive — all tested phones go through all testing processes, and we will not hide the truth about a phone in exchange for money.

What We Accept From Brands

There are a few things. Brands routinely send us devices to test — we are too small to buy all of our devices. From time to time, we may also accept sponsored travel to industry events, which may include travel, lodging, and food. Again, this has no bearing on our results. The results come from objective tests that we report. We will never change or hide any of these results in exchange for money.

The only time we may hide results is if we think there may have been an error in testing, at which point some testing data might be temporarily hidden until we are able to re-run the test. We may also hold test results if we get a device before its release. This is standard procedure, and results will be published on the website when that testing embargo lifts.

How We Make Money

Through licensing. There are two licensing agreements we might engage in.

The first is the licensing of awards badges, quotes, and other branded content. For example, if a device gets rated as having the best display, we may license an award graphic to the brand that made the device.

All licensing agreements with brands include the stipulation that awards are subject to change. That’s the point of our site — a device may have the best display one day, but be overtaken by a new device the next. We do not prolong the release of results in order for a device to keep an award for longer. We also do not keep awards badges present on the device pages if it no longer deserves it.

The second type of licensing is that of our data. We may license access to the raw data collected during testing to brands, AI companies, or other companies.

Our Guarantee

While we may have a financial relationship with some brands through things like licensing, again, this has no influence over our testing processes and our data. We guarantee that we will not hold test results, change results, or change the data in any way.

That doesn’t mean we’ll always have test results for a device as soon as it’s available — we may have a long list of devices to test or no access to some devices. But as soon as test results are available, you’ll see it on the website.
